For those including content in layers before conversion
to tables < Don't do it...but if you must:
After converting your layers to tables clean up the extra cells
that result from this process (option click selects the cell then
merge adjacent cells). Then preview in a browser. If you see problems
with the table then try converting back to layers (using snap-to
grids) and choose 'Exact 'and 'Use Transparent Gifs'
from the options available when you convert back from layers
to tables again.
For those slicing an image and fitting back together within
a table
Before you make any adjustments to your table (which can create
gaps in your fit-together image which are very difficult to repair)
save a version of your page and work on another copy.
If you do create gaps in your image, try:
For those using row or column spanning in tables
If your content looks good in Dreamweaver but is way off to one
side of the cell when you preview in a browser, check to make
sure that cell is not set as a spanning cell that spans when it
shouldn't or spans too many columns or rows. (This happens because
Dreamweaver remembers the old version of the table that had more
rows or columns before you merged cells.) If this is the problem,
fix the code. Another problem might be incorrect width or height
attributes. Select the entire table and 'Clear Cell Heights' or
'Clear Cell Heights' (under Modify > Table)
