Your Trip

Here are some memories people have sent us of their trips to Arizona:

"I really like Sedona. I had been there a couple of times and I especially liked hiking in the one canyon, it's very big and it's in Sedona, and there's a resort there. It's called the Enchantment Resort. And the resort is completely surrounded by the canyon, and it's so beautiful to walk through, and you can walk up and you can walk on the flat ground. And we pretty much just walked through the canyon on the flat ground, and you look up at the canyon and the beautiful, red rocks and you see the ravens flying by, and we did hike up a little way, and it's Indian ground, that's a sacred ground, like a prayer ground, that the Indians had and you had a beautiful view of the canyon once you got up there. And that's probably the part that I liked the most. I think it's more beautiful than the Grand Canyon. I think the Grand Canyon is awesome and huge, but Sedona, the color of the rocks is indescribable. And Indian legend has it that the sacred grounds there, you can find your vortex, I'm not sure what the vortex is, I never found my vortex, but that's the part that I liked the best. Arizona is not considered what you call a flat desert, and every time you drive through there you see that it has so many different geological places to see. The mountains are different colors, and there are different shapes
of the mountains."

"I really enjoyed the Grand Canyon. The time I went with my sister, we took a hike down, part way down into the Grand Canyon. They have mule rides, which I always wanted to go back and do that. It's really beautiful. We saw the Painted Desert, it's like different colors of sand, in a wavy pattern. And the Petrified Forest is right there too, which is really fascinating. It's entirely different than I expected. The rocks there are just petrified wood, but they're beautiful. The other part of Arizona that we drove through was Indian Reservation country and it was awesome scenery up there. Another place I like to go to is Saguara National Monument, because I love saguaros. We always take a little detour and go there to just look at them."
– Carol, Texas

"The Heard Museum was very interesting, because it has a large collection of things from Indians native to Arizona. Tucson has the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and some interesting resorts, The Biltmore Resort is nice to see, because it's a Frank Lloyd Wright design and it has a very interesting look about it, because his architecture is always very unique. The Bolders is another very fascinating resort, built to look like boulders. They have that new retractable baseball park for the Diamondbacks. It has a big half dome that they can open and close, that way the grass can get fresh sunlight, but they can put the dome back over to close it up, for when people watch baseball there in the summer, when it's hot."
– Tom, Michigan

" I liked Old Tucson the best, because they have those shooting galleries there, where if you hit the target, you get a point. And I liked going through the mine. You get to pick out rocks at the end of the tour to take with you. The plays the cowboys put on at Old Tucson were cool, like a bank robbery. There's a ride that you sit in, and you ride through a dark gold mine with skeletons, and other scary things."
– Justin, Michigan
