These steps will create two versions of a button label for a rollover effect. You will keep the original unmerged version of the file in your resources folder. You can easily create the different states of your rollover buttons in any image editing program that utilizes layers. Below is a method for creating a button that changes the text color on rollover. (This method uses Photoshop's multiple undo feature.)

Post this rollover on your prototype home page. If you want to use one of the existing buttons on that page, paint over the word on the button with the background color. Then follow the steps below:

• Create your button background in Photoshop (or open in Photoshop from your resources folder)
• Create a new layer
• Use the text tool to create the first state of the button label (on the new layer)
  -outline text
  -Edit>Stroke
• Create another layer
• Fill the selected text area with color for second state of rollover
• Hide second state layer
• Save As "b_name.psd" into your resources folder
• Flatten layers
• Save As again as "b_name1.jpg" into your web folder (remember to change the file extension in the "save as" dialog box)
• Open the "b_name.psd" file again (you can also use the multiple undo or history options)
• Activate the second state layer you hid before
• Flatten layers
• Save As again as "b_name2.jpg" into your web folder
