Course Description:

This course covers the fundamental tools and techniques of the vector drawing software, Adobe Illustrator. Lecture, demonstrations, exercises and projects introduce students to basic software tools and the current version of the software. This is a requirement in the GDT-Design and GDT-Illustration programs. GDT 139 is replacing GDT 137/138 in the GDT curriculum. Level I Prerequisites: GDT 105 with "C-" or better or a high school Macintosh-based course or instructor permission

Evaluation:

Throughout the semester you will submit copies of completed projects and exercises electronically for evaluation and when requested a printed copy . Grades will be based on attendance (10%), exercises (25%), projects (35%) and exams (30%).

If you wish to drop this class, or change from credit to audit, please discuss this with the instructor first. The Instructor reserves the right to assign one of the following grades to students who stop attending without dropping: F, N, or W.

Attendance Requirements:

Students are to attend class regularly. Lectures and demonstrations will be most successful and beneficial with full attendance and class participation. Be advised that poor attendance will affect your performance and your final grade. Unexcused absences will result in lowering of the semester grade.

If you are unable to attend class or hand in a project on time please leave word at my office prior to class by email: kwilli@wccnet.org, calling 734-677-5213. Advance notice of unavoidable absence is required to make up any work due on a missed class day.

As demonstrations and in-class exercises are designed to reinforce material covered, research and effort outside of class may be necessary for the student to complete the assigned exercise.
