There are a couple of options for those who want to transfer
files between Mac and PC platforms:
The best option is to purchase an IBM formatted zip
disk and use this as your storage vehicle. Here is how you proceed
so problems are less likely:
- Each time you come to class with your disk of files, drag/copy
the files from your disk onto a folder on the Mac desktop.
- Eject your zip disk! ( This will keep you from opening files
from your zip disk or saving to the zip disk by mistake.)
- When you want to open a file you have copied to the folder
on your Mac desktop, open this file from within the application.
For example, you are have Dreamweaver open and you go to the
File menu and then to Open and find the file on your desktop.
- Work on the files and then save back to the folder on your
desktop.
- When you are finished for the day (will make no more changes
to your files) drag the entire folder you created on the Mac
desktop to your IBM formatted zip.
If you are still having problems using the above method to
transfer files between platforms you should download MacOpener
for your PC and use Mac formatted zip disks as your storage
vehicle.
