When using the scanner, make sure to find the Histogram feature in the scanner software. With this set correctly, you will greatly improve the distribution of tone of your final digital end product. Proper settings means more detail will be visible because you are adjusting for a unevenly distributed tonal range resulting in more variations of gray.
If your scanning package does not include a Descreen or Remove Moire feature:
1. Scan at a high resolution (DPI).
2. Use your photo program to blur the scan just enough to get
rid of the moiré pattern.
3. Resample or resize the scan to the size you want.
4 Refocus the scan by using your photo program's UnSharp Mask
or Sharpen or Focus.
So for example:
-Scan at 300 DPI
-Blur
-Resampled to same size as 75 DPI scan
-Refocused using sharpen
