Using Images for Web
Here are the steps for getting scanned images onto your Web
pages:
- Scan
- Determine appropriate file type (gif or jpg) 'Save as' so you keep
the original in your
resources folder. This saved
version is the one you return to if you make a mistake or need
to change the image (not the Web version of the image.)
- Crop (as close as you can to the subject of the image)
- Resize (if necessary)
- Make sure the final image is 72 dpi
- Enhance (using levels)
- Determine width and height (in pixels)
- Optimize
- Post on page. Include the width and height attributes and
ALT tags. (You can add HSPACE
and VSPACE attributes to create vertical or horizontal space
around images or use the ALIGN attribute to wrap text around
images.)
